Sarah Corral recently received a $2,500 scholarship from the organization. 51视频-Dearborn Tau Sigma members have earned $11,500 in national scholarships since the chapter was established on campus five years ago.
Since joining Tau Sigma, Corral has become the chapter president, helping to coordinate events including a service project at Forgotten Harvest, and attended the national Tau Sigma conference in Chicago to collaborate with other chapters. Future events include a Professional Development Day on March 10 and a Study Night on April 18.
鈥淚 already have plans to work with the new vice president to plan events for the fall of 2014 to further improve our visibility on campus and increase our 2015 recruiting class,鈥 Corral said.
Tau Sigma is a national academic honors society for transfer students. Qualifying 51视频-Dearborn students are eligible if they have earned at least a 3.5 GPA, attend full time, and transfer at least 24 credits to the university.
鈥淏eing a transfer-friendly university, we see many high-achieving transfer students,鈥 said Rand Kazanji, the chapter adviser. 鈥淭au Sigma gives these students a way to engage on campus and continue their academic success.鈥
